ABC TREK GUIDE

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC) is also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. Also, it is one of the most popular short and medium length treks in Nepal. Further, Nepal Lions Tours and Treks provides a Complete travel guide to Annapurna Base Camp and Travel Guide to Annapurna Trekking. Moreover, the Annapurna trekking region in Nepal has been wildly recognized as a naturalist’s paradise.

Next, the Annapurna trekking/tour region is a popular dramatic place for trekkers all over the world. For instance, one can do 4 to 21 days of trekking/tour in the Annapurna region. The upper sub-alpine steppe environment harbors some of the rare snow leopards and blue sheep.

Other areas of the Annapurna trekking region protect bird species such as the multi-colored Impeyan, Kokal, blood pheasant amongst a multitude of other birds, butterflies, and insects.

WHAT DOES IT OFFERS?

Many plants native to Nepal are found in the forest of the Annapurna trekking region. The Annapurna conservation area has 100 varieties of orchids and some of the richest temperate rhododendron forest in the world.

For thousands of years, people of diverse ethnic backgrounds have scratched a livelihood out of Annapurna steep hillsides. The advent of tourism and the phenomenal rise in the human population has triggered a process of environmental deterioration. In 1968 Nepal’s former King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation launched the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.

With international support, the project aims to integrate environmental conservation with a development that can sustain the area’s reserve base. The project aspires to improve local living standards, protect the environment, and develop a more “sensitive” form of tourism.

One of ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project)s most important function has been to develop and teach courses on environmental education in local schools and communities.
