When following that runaway yak he discovered this beautiful valley. Later this area was promulgated in the name of Langtang. In the Tibetan language, the word ‘lang’ stands for ‘yak’ and ‘tang’ means to follow. In the upper part of this valley, we find lots of yaks. They are grazing in open meadow.

From Syaphrubeshi the trail swings north into the Langtang valley crossing the river several times along with oak and rhododendron forests. Upon reaching Langtang valley firstly, you visit Langtang village. Afterward, the trail moves towards Kyanjin Gompa crossing through the glacial moraine. It offers the spectacular views of Himalayan panorama with glaciers. After that, you retrace your footsteps to Syabrubesi. We decided to go for a trekking with our 11 years old daughter in Nepal. Because of her and our limited trekking experience, we chose the 7 days Langtang Valley one. Shiva from Nepal Lion tours through the emails and WhatsApp messages has been very helpful from the start. When we arrived, they picked us up from the airport and drop us to our hotel. That hotel in Thamel was little disappointment but other than that I can't find any faults during the trek. Our guide Binod and our porter Razinder were very attending and helpful. Binod kept a careful eye on us. And we all three having different fitness levels, he made sure that none of us left alone. The scenery on the trek is amazing. The mountains, the river, the Rhododendron trees, the yaks and pray flags everywhere. The tea houses we stopped were very basic but rooms and sheets were clean and whenever you need an extra blanket, they are ready to give you. We done our trek in April, we have been very lucky with the weather but in the evenings especially when you go up, it gets cold. The food along the trek is really good, and even if you are a fussy eater, you can find something for yourself. I have few tips that may be helpful. If you are ok with plastic bottled water, you don't need to bring water tablets, you can buy water anywhere along the route. You don't need heavy boots, we were all wearing trail runners. Save money on something else, and hire a jeep to get the start point instead of a bus, because the roads are not in good conditions. And don't forget to eat cake at Dorje Bakery in Kyanjin Gompa.
